Two books were published recently lending new voices to the chronicles of the April 16, 1947 disaster in Texas City.
Allan Pevoto, who was in 5th grade at Danforth Elementary at time of the disaster wrote
"Heroes and Survivors: Personal Experiences of the Texas City Disaster." The book features memories of the events from many of Pevoto's classmates.
He said he wrote the book because he had seen very little written on the disaster that included the views of kids who lived through the experience.
Pevoto's book costs $20.95 and can be ordered through his publisher by

Linton's daughter Helen Linton Page promised her mother that her late father's memories would come to life in the form of a book which is titled
"True American."“True American” is her father’s “final love letter to Texas City, and it gives a thorough account of what happened,” Page said.
Page's book can be ordered for just $12.71 by
