Heavy rains moved through Galveston County Thursday night and early Friday, soaking some vendors and early attendees at the Lone Star Biker Rally in Galveston. Rainfall amounts, between 9 pm Thursday evening and 9 am Friday morning ranged from 1.17" at Scholes Field to 2.05" closer to downtown where the Rally is being staged. Rainfall reports on the mainland ranged from 1.73' near Friendswood to less than an inch in some areas close to the Bay.
Despite the overnight deluge, and the fact that clouds will be slow to move out of the area today, the weather outlook for the weekend promises much better conditions for Saturday and Sunday. Light rain should taper off as we move through the day today and the sun will make an appearance again by late today or on Saturday. With most of the clouds out of the way, temperatures should reach the 70's by Saturday and Sunday afternoon, with low humidity levels and cool nights.
In other words, conditions will be near ideal for this weekend and and the fine weather should continue into early next week.
