Bar Burglary Suspect Charged
GALVESTON — A man accused of trying to burglarize a bar Wednesday was captured after a brief police chase, authorities said.
Bond for Donald Stahl, 31, of Galveston, was set at $15,000 on charges of attempted burglary and evading arrest, stemming from a 3 a.m. incident at My Place Bar in the 5800 block of Avenue S, Galveston police said.
A cabdriver pointed officer Ernesto Garcia to the suspect, who hopped a fence. Garcia caught the man in an alley at 59th Street and Avenue R, police said.

Deputies Seek Game Room Robber
ALGOA — A game room robber fled Wednesday with an unknown amount of cash after he forced a woman inside the business she was preparing to open, authorities said.
The man arrived at All About Bikes in the 19000 block of state Highway 6 in Algoa about 7:25 a.m. and grabbed the clerk by her hair and forced her inside, a Galveston County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.
The clerk was uninjured, and the man, who had brown skin, left in a white truck equipped with tool boxes along the side of the bed.

Intoxication Assault Nets 2-year Sentence
GALVESTON — A woman who pleaded guilty to an intoxication assault charge was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison, a prosecutor said.
Lauree Ann Strunk, 40, of League City, pleaded guilty Monday and a jury in Judge Susan Criss’ 212th District Court sentenced her to two years, Xochitl Vandiver-Gaskin, a prosecutor, said.
Strunk was charged after a March 19, 2008, five-car collision on Harborside Drive in Galveston seriously injured a Temple woman vacationing with her family on spring break.
