GALVESTON — The Galveston Garden Club is taking orders for flowers in its annual Powhatan Pansy Potpourri.
The club started the fundraiser as a way to care for the Powhatan House, built in 1847 and now maintained as the club’s headquarters.
The club chose to sell pansies because they add color to the town during the winter.
They can be planted in sun to part-sun in good soil with slow-releasing fertilizer.
The deadline for ordering flowers is Nov. 13. The pansies are $22 per flat.
The flowers will be distributed from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 19.
Order forms are available at Powhatan House, 35th Street and Avenue O.
For information, call 409-763-0077 or 409-789-4996.
