Bayoufest features family fun

LA MARQUE — When it comes to flying a kite, everyone is a kid, Kathy Nixie said.
So this weekend at La Marque’s Bayoufest, even the adults can be kids again and experience one of the simple pleasures of childhood.
“You can be an adult and yell: ‘I’m a kid! I’m a kid!’ and you can fly a kite,” Nixie, a kite hobbyist who is coordinating the festival’s kite event, said.
The kite flying is free and part of the family activities and entertainment at Bayoufest. The Rusty Hook Fishing Club will have a morning tournament. Children’s activities include pony rides.
The Posse Band takes to the stage Saturday night at Highland Bayou Park.
