Deputy to face assault charge

GALVESTON — A Galveston County sheriff’s deputy was accused of hitting his wife and charged with assault Saturday morning, according to Galveston police records.
Details of the incident that led to the arrest of deputy Stefano Pothos were not available Saturday night.
Galveston police went to a residence early Saturday morning, according to the reports. Pothos was charged with felony assault-family violence. He was released from the Galveston County jail on $5,000 bond.
Galveston County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo said an internal affairs review of the incident would be conducted by the sheriff’s office. The criminal investigation would be handled by the Galveston Police Department, he said.
