BOI Pam Withers Chilton, from a Baby Apple acting family, is in Los Angeles costume designing for the Lifetime television channel’s show “Rita Rocks.”
Pam has done many movies (her latest was “Seventeen Again”) but now she and hub Hank Chilton have two small daughters, Frances and Alice, to raise and enjoy and she has opted for the shorter hours (and less money) of TV.
She invited dad K. Ball Withers and wife Sandra Sullivan to a live audience taping while they were in L.A. the other day.
Now, here’s the inside skinny — a scene is usually taped three times; after each taping, hordes of people appear, including writers, producers, sponsors, etc., with tweaks to the script, blocking, directing suggestions, etc. for the cast and crew. Sometimes, members of the cast get to put their two cents in as well.
Meanwhile, a comedian is keeping the audience entertained.
As Pam is a part of the show, K. Ball and Sandra not only could watch the filming but could also sit in the “green” room and “pretend we were someone and eat goodies while watching the monitor with people there who really are someone.”
They met the star of the show, Nicole Sullivan, who is pregnant to the point of explosion. See pix.
She’s a longtime friend of Pam and Hank, who was a writer/director/producer for the FX show, “Nip/Tuck.”
As a special bonus, they also met the episode’s guest star, Swoozie Kurtz, who played Nicole’s mother.
By the by — Pam’s mom is well-known Galveston star Anne Withers of Dallas Theatre fame.
Volunteers Are The Cream Of MOW
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Meals on Wheels board mems’ ice cream social honoring and recognizing all the dedicated MOW delivery volunteers.
Everyone gathered at The Spot on the seawall for a good ol’ fashioned get together to relax, chat and, o’ course, indulge in summer’s favorite dessert.
There was a big thank you to Dennis Byrd for allowing Meals on Wheels to take over his “Ice Cream Parlor” at The Spot for the afternoon.
Enjoying the frozen confections were volunteers Bebe Rizo, Connie Batie, Jim, Liz and Andrew Turner, Maureen DiMare, Louis and Paula Reeg, Jan Malone and Dan Freeman, along with many other volunteers and supporters who stopped by to enjoy the event.
Also indulging in a scoop or two, or three, were board members Juan Peña, Donna Kearney, Mary Viegas, the Rev. Ray Pinard, Sharon Concha with her Mario, Mary Rose Estrada, Brett Kirkpatrick, Gilbert Zamora Jr. and Cathy Maples.
If you are interested in volunteering to deliver meals, help is always appreciated. Or, if you know of anyone who could benefit from having a meal delivered, contact Meals on Wheels coordinator Sharon Concha at 409-770-3975 for more information.
Each lunch costs $4, and can be delivered Monday through Friday.
Although some recipients pay the full amount for each meal, no one is turned away for inability to pay. The MOW goal is to help the island’s homebound, elderly and disabled to maintain their independence by providing a daily nutritious hot meal.
