Shine On Harvest Moon For Gleanings
Save Dec. 13 for a great night out at Gleanings from the Harvest’s annual Harvest Moon Gala, when executive director Mark Davis and the board of directors will be honoring state legislators Mike Jackson, Craig Eiland and Larry Taylor.
Gleanings is busily fitting out its new building in Texas City so it can become the Galveston County Food Bank within just a coupla months maybe, so the gala could not come at a better time as a fundraiser.

Junior Gals Hitting The Grand Dame O’ Gulf
A fitting venue for the Dec. 12 Junior League of Galveston County’s “Old Galveston Glamour” is the historic Hotel Galvez, the Grande Dame of the Gulf.
One can only guess there will be lotsa’ memorabilia of the Turf Tap Room, the Balinese Room, maybe even bits o’ the Jack Tar Hotel.
It’ll be a blast from the past no matter how they do it and, knowing these gals, it’ll be superb!
Ball chair is Liz Rogers, Reene Bradshaw is fundraising chair and their committee consists of the belles monde of the Baby Apple — otherwise known as Christina Ballard, Erin Kearney Conrad, Kim Woods, Kimberley Walker, Hayley Hardcastle, Kristen Hanson, Abbey Hanson, Jennifer Kubezcka, Kimberly Mack Bills, Elise Ott, Kerri Myers, Sarah Sulllivan, Christy Taylor, Cassie Vanderford, Amber Darrow, Michelle Doguet, Lynsey Ginsberg and Erica Hallmark.
The Hotel Galvez is opening its historic doors for this, the 58th annual Holiday Charity Ball.
And, as usual, a portion of the proceeds will fund the many philanthropic projects the Junior League carries out each year, including its Adopt-A-School, Pedi Pals, Habitat for Humanity and college scholarships programs.
